I’m not a professional photographer but with years of hard work combined with excellent training, I’ve learned to shoot professional quality photographs. I’ve participated in photography workshops conducted by the likes of John Shaw, America’s foremost landscape photographer and author www.johnshawphoto.com, Tim Cooper and Doug Johnson from the Rocky Mountain School of Photography www.rmsp.com and master photographer Charles Glatzer www.shootthelight.com.

I learned that I needed help from professionals like them some years ago when I started staking out a territory in freelance writing. An editor told me she was interested in purchasing my article but quality photographs would help. I borrowed a friend’s 35 mm camera, took some photos and sent them in. Ultimately, the editor purchased my article but none of my photographs.

As I saw my articles published with somebody else’s photos, I decided that I needed to become a photographer. I purchased a camera and read everything I could find on outdoor photography. When I needed more than reading could provide, I started participating in photo workshops. I learned even more when I started teaching others the art of photography.

I had to temper the enthusiasm of those “new” photographers who pictured their photos on a magazine cover. I know amateur and professional photographers who have taken thousands upon thousands of photos. Only a few of those are truly outstanding and almost none are ever seen in print. That’s a fact of life. But there is hope. The key to seeing your photos in print is to write articles and submit photos to go with them. That’s where I can help.

Internet searches show that lots of photographers offer photo workshops. Similar searches for writing workshops turn up next to nothing. I am a photographer and writer. I am proficient at using Photoshop to improve the quality of photographs. To my knowledge, I am the only person offering to help develop all of those skills in a single seminar.

I like to individualize my workshops offering the training that you want. If you want the workshop to concentrate on critiques of your writing, I’ll do that. If you have no interest in writing but want to become a better photographer, I’ll skip the writing work. If you want Photoshop help, that will be the focus of your individual lessons.

A short seminar cannot replace years of practice and study, but it can create a foundation that will improve your chances of claiming the mantle of a published writer and photographer. I would be pleased to help you on your journey.
