Idaho's Shoshone Falls is known as the Niagra Falls of the west and for good reason. Here, the Snake River drops 200 feet on the journey to its confluence with the Columbia River. Along the way it passes through Hell's Canyon, a canyon deeper than the Grand Canyon, although the walls are not as sheer.
