The Devil's Kettle on Minnesota's North Shore is a remarkable place. The Brule River splits, half of it flowing to Lake Superior and the other half falls into a lava chute. Nobody knows where the water ends up. This is a "must see" on the North Shore. It is a rather strenuous hike from the parking area. The hike is about a mile and and a half. Most of it is uphill. Near the falls, there is a wooden stairway with 232 steps down to the river. It is an easy walk down but the return up the stairs is demanding.
