You will be responsible for your own transportation, lodging, meals and travel expense. We will help arrange car pooling if participants are interested.

The nearest airports with commercial flights are Duluth and Minneapolis-St Paul. The drive from the MSP airport to Duluth is about 140 miles.

North Shore Photo Workshop - Article Writing Workshop

Mention Minnesota and most people think of “Cold”. Few know that the more than 150 miles of rugged Lake Superior shoreline between Duluth and Grand Portage offers scenic vistas of the “Big Lake”, cascading streams, waterfalls and magnificent views of the oft photographed Split Rock Lighthouse. The North Shore is a photographer’s dream and we know the best photo locations.

We offer our photo workshop | article writing workshop to the North Shore in May when streams are running full and waterfalls are their most pictuesque and September as autumn colors start to peak. With birches and aspens near the lake and sugar maples in higher elevations approaching peak color, this is the perfect time to photograph this beautiful area.

The photo workshop will include instruction to help you take better photographs as well as critiques of your photos. In the Article writing workshop we teach you how to query editors about writing articles for publication. We’ll show you how to improve your photos using basic post-processing tools in Adobe Photoshop.

We will enjoy comfortable accomodations in either Silver Bay or Lutsen.

The workshops will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Monday night and conclude at noon on Thursday. We will be on location before sunrise and again in the late afternoon. After our morning shoot, we will break for breakfast before the classroom instruction begins. The afternoon will include individual photo critique sessions as well as article writing training.
